mc by hetrosexual route globally given in harrison page 1084 and in anantnarayan explained as like this that 5 subtypes a to e out of wich c and e mc in asia and africa and b in america in ,asia and africa max no.of aiids. and there heterosexual route mc.in america there ws trend of transmission by homosexual route and contaminated bloods bt that too has changed to heterosexual.for ref see anantnarayan 7th edition,page 585

This is what Harrison's 16 th edition mentions about HIV transmission
HIV infection is predominantly a sexually transmitted disease (STD) worldwide. Although in the United States ~42% of new HIV infections are among men who have sex with men and ~33% of new HIV infections are by heterosexual transmission, the most common mode of infection worldwide, particularly in developing countries, is clearly heterosexual transmission. Furthermore, the yearly incidence of new cases of AIDS attributed to heterosexual transmission of HIV is steadily increasing in the United States, mainly among minorities, particularly women in minority groups
