ARI-DIAGNOSIS!!!!
a 3 month old child presents with RR-50/min,no chest in-drawing & cough for more than 3days.it should be categorised as-------
1)Pneumonia
2)no Pneumonia
3)severe Pneumonia
4)very severe Pneumonia
[DOUBT:the Q-source gives the ans-key as (2)...BUT isn't it (1)???????]

PNEUMONIA- RR=>50 2mth- 12mth; RR=>40 12mth-5yr
no chest indrawing
wheezing+/-
SEVERE PNEUMONIA- taccypnoea+
wheezing+ chest indrawing
cyanosis
if malnutrition is present classify as severe pneumonia.
answer is definitly 1(pneumonia)
remember-
in <2mths age any pneumonia is considered to be severe and needs urgent referal.
danger signs in <2mnth- RR=>60
stopped feeding
convulsions, abnormal slleep
stridor in calm child, wheezing
fever or hypothermia.
